A few weeks back I had the awesome experience of attending Imaging USA down in Nashville at the Opryland Hotel. Laurie Marie, Laurie Marie Photography, Brooke Hess, b.scrubbed, and little kitty Guinness were my wonderful travel companions. Or rather I was their companion as this whole roadtrip to Nashville was their absolutely brilliant idea.
Yup. That's us! (yes i wear glasses and no they are not the same pair from grade school)
While there is so much information to share here on what I learned, fotogfriends I made, and the inspiring "rock star" speakers I heard from I thought I would keep this post simple....
My favorite event: Night Shots in Music Town.
Laurie and I decided that we would run downtown to capture some local flavor. We gave ourselves a strict timeline (which we did not follow) and the option to pick one lens and one lens only to photograph with (which we did follow). I had so much fun! I absolutely adore getting lost behind the camera. For me it is therapeutic, and inspiring, and challenging. Joe Buissink said it best, "Photographers get to start with a full canvas. How brilliant is that?!" We pick up our cameras and we deconstruct the so called canvas based on our own experiences, on how we see the world. And that to me is brilliant! So anyway....So much fun!

Great post! Fun color, and the Buissink quote is stellar!! What a great concept! I always found the first brush stroke in painting to be the hardest to take b/c of the blank canvas staring back.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should start with complete paintings and then subtract! Hmm. ...k
